Boca Grande

Boca Grande is the name of the pass located at the southern-most point of Gasparilla Island and is the water connection between the Gulf of Mexico, and Charlotte Harbor. Boca Grande Pass is one of the deepest natural channels on the Gulf of Mexico side of Florida. The deep water pass is complex in its contours and depths. The more shallow areas of the pass measure around 30 feet in depth, and the deepest area measuring 80 feet in depth. Boca Grande is home to various species of fish, however, there’s no doubt which one rules the water when it comes to action and excitement. The Tarpon is well known for its incredible strength and thrilling, powerful runs and jumps. Captain Christopher Taylor has dedicated most of his life to helping people catch Tarpon. Targeting The Silver King has been a Taylor family tradition for the longest time. Tarpon fishing runs in the blood so to speak. At the young age of 5 the Captain caught his first Tarpon weighing around 80 pounds in the deep waters of Boca Grande Pass with his father Mark Taylor. Even before that his mother Cynthia Taylor was fighting Tarpon in Boca Grande Pass while pregnant with the Captain. Captain Taylor uses traditional live bait methods for catching Tarpon in Boca Grande Pass during Boca Grande Tarpon fishing charters.
